Top UK Locations for New Year’s Eve

2016 is more than three quarters of the way through and with that in mind our thoughts have to turn toward the end of the year celebrations. It’s not too early to get your 2016/2017 blowout organised – after all, everyone else is, and in some cases you need to get your ticket before they do!

So where can you experience a truly exceptional New Year’s Eve with your friends?

Stonehaven, Scotland

Hogmanay has its own reputation above and beyond New Years’ Eve for right or wrong, but Stonehaven takes it to another level and has done for centuries now. Their celebrations begin at 10:30pm when crowds will gather in the high street to witness a unique parade made up of brave men and women swinging fireballs around themselves which eventually ends in a brilliant fireworks display.

No tickets are required but you and your friends should get there ahead of time to avoid being turned away due to capacity – and parking cars is often a problem, so we recommend a minibus or coach.

South Bank, London

One of the most famous NYE fireworks displays in the world is London’s South Bank fireworks, this year kicked off by new Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. Tickets have to be bought in advance and they’re on sale now – so why not get a group of your friends together, hire a coach, and make a big London weekend of it?

You’ll be able to take in the Winter Festival at the Southbank Centre while you’re there, or it might be a perfect time to take in an afternoon performance at the West End.

St Ives, Cornwall

A small town which parties as one, putting together a celebration many larger cities would envy, St Ives has become a very popular off-the-beaten-track New Year destination over the past few years. But be warned:

If you are going to St Ives
You may dress as famous wives
You might dress up and play the sax
You might dress up just like a cat
You’ll have to wear more than just mittens
Fancy dress of different lives
Is worn to parties in St Ives!

Weymouth, Dorset

Live music, light shows on the beach, and much more – The Front Live is a waterfront event that brings Weymouth and the surroundings together, and after seeing off the old year, you can leave much of your party behind and take your beloved on a night-time walk along the beach to start 2017 off right.

Costume is encouraged here, too, though with the same focus that St Ives will.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Hogmanay in Scotland is always fantastic, and Edinburgh makes a play each year to be the party capital. Many different parties will be out there in many major locations, so depending on your preferences in music and ambience there’s bound to be something on offer especially for you.

Of course, there are many other prize destinations across the UK that you might prefer, but to ring in the New Year at a great party with all your friends around you the trick is getting everybody there. Enquire today and we’ll get you to your destination.
