Your UK Travel Bucket List

Published 9th Nov 2018
It is hard to believe that we are already in the eleventh month of 2018! With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, it’s time to start planning your celebrations and getting ready for the New Year ahead.

If you’re stuck for a New Year’s resolution to take into 2019, we have a perfect one for everyone: Travel more! For those of you who were lucky enough to have travelled plenty in 2018, remember there is always more to be seen and experienced.

To get you started on ideas of what adventures you can plan, SMC Coach Hire has made a list of the some of the best places to tick of your travel bucket list 2019.

Take a ride through the West Highland Line in Scotland

First on our travel bucket list is the West Highland in Scotland. Famous for its feature in the Harry Potter films, the West Highland Line and steam-train is a must for those who love the countryside! It’s a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city as the train takes you from Glasgow to Oban (or Fort William) and Mallaig. If you’re lucky you may even spot some red deer!

Grab a Chippy in Whitby

Well known for its feature in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby is a quaint seaside town in northern England.  There are loads of things to do including visiting the beautiful ruins of Whitby Abbey, taking the stunning scenery, explore the Captain Cook museum and grab yourself some fresh chips from a local chippy!

Watch the Sunrise at Stonehenge

Believed to have begun being constructed 5000 years ago, Stonehenge is a place steeped in history and mystery. One of the most popular ways to enjoy Stonehenge is to gather at the monument for a breath-taking sunrise and learn of the sites rich history. Once the sun is up you can venture for a day out in the beautiful town of Amesbury.

See a West End Show

The last on our travel bucket list is a West End Show. The glitz and glam of the West End is year round with a show for everyone. Considered to be the best place in England to catch a winning performance, a day at the West End is guaranteed fun for all. There are loads to do around the West End either before or after the show; delve into the areas rich history; shop until you drop on Oxford Road; wander around Leicester Square; explore Covent Garden.
