1. Sub Club, Glasgow
Sub Club has been at the centre of dance music in Glasgow for 30 years, its intimate, friendly and electrifying atmosphere results in people flying in from around the world to experience the club for themselves. It is by far one of the best clubs in Scotland or arguably the best. It is made up of a basement space with a low ceiling and an amazing sound system – the energy that can be felt on the dancefloor is truly special.
2. Fabric, London
This list wouldn’t be right without Fabric – arguably the clubbing institution of the UK and one of the best clubs in Europe. It is home to the best sound systems in the world and has contributed so much to London’s club life. There are three rooms which all offer a different experience. On a Friday you can expect some bass-heavy music and Saturdays things get slightly deeper on a house and techno trip.
3. Hidden, Manchester
Manchester’s Hidden club scooped Best Small Club by DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards, beating clubs like already mentioned Sub Club. Manchester is a well-known party hotspot and Hidden (which is quite literally hidden) is very popular in the city. It is a cool venue ran by the friendliest staff you’ll find and the atmosphere is amazing.
4. Motion, Bristol
Motion is a matrix of old warehouse spaces with a cobbled front courtyard and a riverside area. Each room gets better and better as you make your way to the main room, past the neon and dark corners. With each room playing a different kind of music, this super club hosts some of the best electronic artists in the game.
5. Rainbow Venues, Birmingham
The Rainbow Venues has been at the forefront of the Birmingham and Midlands’ clubbing scene for the past few years. Comprising of 11 spaces, ranging from warehouses to a pub. It is used for many different purposes from festivals to art exhibitions, but local and international promoters focus on house – and techno-focussed club nights. It is consistently putting on sell-out shows and has a forward-thinking music policy.
6. Corsica studios, London
You’ll find music lovers with an arty, friendly crowd at this award-winning arts and entertainment venue. Located in South London, it’s a great choice if you’re into dubstep and garage music. It’s the place to go for new, exciting and experimental sounds.
7. Mint Club + Warehouse, Leeds
The award-winning Mint Club is famous for its state of the art sound system, contemporary over-head lighting and marathon sets from the world’s biggest DJs. Just down the road is Mint Warehouse with a 1000-capacity space and three rooms, including a large outdoor terrace for daytime parties. Perfect in the summer months!
8. Underground, Liverpool
This fairly new club covers the full spectrum of modern electronic music with an unrivalled weekly program of cutting edge talent. With a dark, dingy and with a warehouse feel, this venue has it all: cool sound system, great stage and perfect location.
